Surrey Chapter Charity Fun Day - Saturday 22nd July
MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS ARE ALL WELCOME
As many of you will be aware final plans are now underway for our Charity Fun Day to be held at Colin and Cheryl’s lovely house – 278 Stroude Road, Egham,TW20 9UZ (venue of last year’s 25th party).
We will start the day with a rideout leaving M25 Cobham Services at 12.00 to arrive at Colin and Cheryl’s around 1.15pm.
The Fun Day will begin at 1.30pm and end at 5.30pm and sunshine has been booked!
Food and drink
There will be bacon butties (plus a veggie option), strawberries and cream, tea, coffee and cake, Pimms and nibbles, beers and soft drinks.
Fun for all ages
Bike games, tug of war, “stocks”, side shows, various stalls, tombola and, of course, a raffle with some great prizes.
There will be a “Harley” stall where we can sell your unwanted Harley stuff. We ask that in return for a sale you give 20% of the selling price to the Charity (of course, if you would like to donate the whole amount that’s fine too!!). So dig out anything you no longer want or perhaps no longer fits! Please label with your name and how much you hope to sell for.
Mo will be there with her sewing machine and will sew on any badges, rockers etc. All of her takings will be donated to the Charity.
It’s not too late for you to join in in some way and help make the day a great success.
We still need:
If you can help on the day, even for an hour, please email me marion.mantle@gmail.com
LASTLY, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, FOR THIS EVENT TO BE A SUCCESS WE NEED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO COME ALONG AND JOIN IN THE FUN AND HELP US RAISE LOTS OF MONEY FOR OUR CHOSEN CHARITY MPN VOICE. BY CLICKING ON THIS LINK YOU CAN DOWNLOAD A FLYER TO PRINT AND PASS ON ALL THE RELEVANT INFORMATION TO YOUR NEAREST AND DEAREST.
The Charity’s main aims are research and support for individuals with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) which are a group of rare blood cancers. Most of you know that our previous Director, Annette, was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, one of the MPN conditions, four years ago and thanks to the expertise and support of her specialist team at Guys Hospital was chosen for a drug trial which has slowed down her symptoms. Unfortunately the drug has now stopped being so effective and Annette is now scheduled for a bone marrow transplant later in the summer.
Astonishingly, despite this being an extremely rare condition another of our members, Jim Basson, has also been diagnosed with myelofibrosis and is currently undergoing regular chemotherapy and blood transfusions.
