SCUK OFFICIAL CHARITY RIDEOUT

Sunday 22 July In Aid Of MPN VOICE

WE ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE RAISED £5429 FOR THIS CAUSE WHICH IS SO DEAR TO OUR HEARTS!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are pleased to confirm our planned main charity fund-raising event for 2017-18 is in support of MPN Voice which supports patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms and funds research into these rare bone marrow life-threatening conditions. This is our chosen charity as our friends Jim Basson and Annette Matthews were diagnosed with MPN. Sadly Jim Basson passed away but Annette underwent a bone marrow transplant as part of her on going treatment and is making progress.

Our aim is to raise as much money as we can by asking friends, neighbours, colleagues and family to guess the mileage from Hampton Court over all the Bridges of the Thames in Surrey to Windsor and then for a pleasant ride around the roads until we reach Colin and Cheryl’s sometime in the afternoon. Each guess will “cost” £5 and the person or persons who guess the correct distance to the nearest 1/10 mile will win £100 – which has been donated to the club specifically to help us raise more money for our charity. Your supporters can have as many guesses as they like but each guess costs £5…… and we hope you will start the form off with your own guess!

A guesstimate form can be downloaded using this LINK.

We need these returned either as a hard copy and given in with the money before the start of the ride on the 22 July – or emailed to the treasurer@surreychapteruk.org and the money paid by BACS to Surrey Chapter UK; Sort Code 60-10-14; Account Number 87033135 and use your Name & Charity as a reference by 10pm on Saturday 21st July.

If you do not wish to print a form we will have copies at the next Club night (12 July) and also at the I.O.W. Warners trip.

The format for the day will be:

  • Meet at Hampton Court Railway Station at 10am; KT8 9AE.
  • Mileometer of lead rider – Mick Mantle – to be set to zero and verified by Club Director
  • Leave at 10.30am to start riding over the Thames bridges
  • Brief refreshment stop at Runnymede Pleasure Ground; TW20 0AE.
  • Ride over the rest of the Thames bridges in Surrey.
  • Finish at Colin and Cheryl’s for bacon or veggie butties and tea/coffee; TW20 9UZ.
  • Finish mileage to the nearest 1/10 mile to be verified by Dave Smith & at least one  independent club member.
  • Winner will be announced once all the forms are checked
  • In the event of a tie the prize money will be divided equally amongst the winners.

So please start pestering your friends and family. We are hoping folk will be keen to wager £5 to try and win £100.

We have already made almost £4000 for the charity - please let us see whether we can make it much more.
