Ride To The Wall 2019
Friday 4th to Sunday 6th October
The RTTW website will be open to register your intention to ride on 26 April 2019, or you can just support the event by making a £10 donation. You will receive a year bar for 2019 and your name can also be added to the scroll of attendance, recognising the contribution you have made and the pride and respect that you show for the sacrifice made by those with their names on the wall. You may also add a name to the scroll of remembrance.
As we ride to and from the National Memorial Arboretum towards the end of our regular rideout season this is also a good chance to think about those friends who were members of Surrey Chapter during the last 28 glorious years but who are no longer with us. This includes: Matthew Melly, David Carrick, Jeff Fallon, Carol Dube, Len and Margaret Harvey, Jim Basson, Steve Hutchinson and Mick Cox.
When you register to ride for 2019 please click the options 'Start Location: Other / Making my own way to the NMA' and choose Surrey Chapter UK as your club at the point of payment.
For more information go to https://www.rttw.org/index.php.
Please note this is an open ride so please feel free to invite non-harley riding friends along provided you are confident they are safe riders.
The National memorial Arboretum is a moving garden of remembrance for people of the UK and includes those such as nurses, firemen, postmen, stillborn children, 9/11 victims, road crash victims as well as soldiers, sailors and airmen who died in service since the 2nd World War; for more info take a look at www.thenma.org.uk.
During the day there will be events and live music taking place from 9.30am to 5pm in 4 different locations; Veterans Village, Visitors Centre, Marquees and The Bastion Memorial and possibly some aerial attractions.
The plan is to leave Jacks Cafe, 44 London Rd, Bagshot GU19 5HL, on Friday 4th October at 12.00 and take a mixture of Motorway and A roads. We'll stop for coffee etc at Cherwell Services on the M40. Taking it easy we should arrive at our hotel by 16.00hrs.
You are welcome to ride up later on Friday and join us at the hotel.
Feel free to ride up on the Saturday morning and join us at the NMA for the day but please note there will not be an offical SCUK lead ride from Surrey.
Our hotel will be the Three Queens Hotel in Burton upon Trent, DE14 1SY, about 10 miles from the NMA which is in Alrewas. Cost is around £55 per night including breakfast. Should you find within a day or two of the event that you cannot attend you will be liable for the cost of the room if it cannot be cancelled.
We will leave the hotel after breakfast on Saturday and arrive around 10.00am at the NMA. After the crowds have left following the Service of Remembrance we'll return to the hotel or you may choose to head for home.
On Sunday morning we'll take a leisurely ride home after breakfast.
Please contact me if you wish me to put your name down for a room; I need to know which nights you wish to stay.

The RTTW Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon the roads behind you.
May you be kept safe through rolling hills, twisting turns, from oil, gravel and dim-witted drivers and, until we meet again, may the blessing of the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Be upon You, and those whom you, love
Now and always
NB: You remain responsible at all times for the control, safe and legal use of your motorcycle.
